So much to do, so much to do, so much to do before I say I do!

New year's was wonderful, D and I rang it in with Shanteka and her D @ Ranch 616.

see?

Carried the celebration over to the morning with a big steaming pot of black eyed pea soup and cornbread, bloody marys and mimosas, with [info]mediavixen and [info]bleachedred and Rachel and Jimmy. Such good company to kick off the year. Such good soup! This man I'm marrying is one HELL of a cook!

I had 11 days off straight. We spent the holidays at my parents, where the family (sans a sick [info]novemberrain17) ate tamales and bbq and opened presents and watched football and culminated the evening in one big margarita fueled bingo game where I left with $22 from the table. Did I just take money from my 9 year old niece? Yes, yes I did.

Bastrop for the second line - so unexpected! Who would have thought, in BASTROP of all places! My sister kept running into folks she knew. Everyone had the same question - "wtf are YOU doing in Bastrop!?" the Treme brass band and Mardi Gras Indians did it up right. The only thing missing was the cold beer in a go cup. Daniel took this photo - I love it!

We (Daniel, Rachel and I) hiked in Bastrop State Park after. (photo) Hiked a lot all week actually - for you Austinites who have never ventured out to Guerrero Colorado River Park - there's some gorgeous nature out there, right in the middle of the city. It's so remote and undeveloped, which is nice, and there's rarely anyone out there. See it now, before it goes under construction.

All in all, lots of games (Star Trek Monopoly!) and dinners and lunches and good memories were made. All without leaving Texas. Which wasn't my initial plan, but I'm glad I did it.

Resolutions?

* Plan this wedding
* Get in beach shape for the honeymoon
* More time with family
* Less time on the internet (yeah, who am I kidding?)
* Less attention to the small bothers (traffic assholes), idiots (political pundits) and stalkers (Crotchfruit!)
* More writing.
* More yoga.
* More meditation and long walks.

More love. So much more love...
