Holidaze...
Well let's just start off saying I ate way too much. I blame the 3 party Friday night where I was forced (by the evil demon of MANNERS!) to eat 3 holiday meals. Oh dear lord. Let's not even start counting calories for drinks. It's Monday morning and my jeans are a little too tight for my liking. Helloooooo Gold's Gym.
Weekend Recap -
Friday - oh so many parties! My company party kicked off with bonuses (bonii?) and monogrammed video nanos for the entire company. After this week, we don't come back until the 2nd. You want to work here, doncha? Did I mention we have an arcade size Ms Pacman/Galaga in the lobby?
Party #1 (S\W) started at 1pm. Food, drinks, white elephant. I somehow managed to bruise my ribcage on the glass partition of my desk. I wore reindeer ears.
Party #2 (Aus Chron) started at 5:30. Drinks, food, PIES, and lots of porn story talk. I was amazed how many people read it and wanted to discuss it. Left feeling slightly rockstar-ish and motivated. Was changed into black cocktail attire, with hot hot heels.
Party #3 (D's work) started at 8. Drinks, food, KARAOKE. A friend got up to sing and her duet partner was MIA. So I jumped in, not knowing the song selection (or that her mic was TURNED OFF) and played air guitar and sang loudly (and apparently solo) to "Jack and Diane." Daniel wasn't feeling too well, and (my hot hot) high heels were painfully oppressive, so we skipped party #4 and went home.
Saturday Slept in, then headed to a matinee at the new Alamo to see I Am Legend which made me cry way too many times and feel sorta bad for the bad guys. I mean, the Fresh Prince *did* steal his girlfriend. I'd be pissed, too. Then off to The Blue Genie and SoCo for presents and finally, to Sushi Sake for some much needed sashimi and sake... mmmmm, warms the belly.
Sunday - More shopping, and finished up my list. I picked up a very large stuffed animal at Toys R Us, and judging from the way I made two kids cry in the parking lot (to the sound of "BUT I WANT ONNNNNEEEE!") I think it's a winner. (Lisa, if you're reading, don't tell your kid sister.) Then it was steaks and wine and putting up the Christmas tree, soft sweet kisses on the couch to the twinkling of lights and sleepy dreams to cap the weekend.
Such a great time. This week will be crazy, but at least the major parties and shopping are out of the way. Now I can bake and read and write and relax until the New Year.
